Why do so many Adoption Centers refuse to adopt smaller breed dogs to homes with children?

My family is currently looking for a shih tzu. I adore this breed and have been researching them for about 3 years. We are going to be completely ready to have one in March. I would love to adopt one from a shelter, but most will not even look at my application because I have 2 children under the age of 12( 10 and 3). I feel that I am going to be forced to go to a breeder for a puppy. I understand that many families do not supervise their children around their pets, which leads to injury to either the pet or the child. What I don't understand is, if we have excellent vet references, a large fenced yard, and are willing to undergo many home visits from the shelter, why won't they consider our application? Why should all families be judged by a few bad examples? I think it is extremely unfair that I will have to buy a puppy from a breeder rather than adopt one into a loving home where they will be loved and doted on.

Filing a formal complaint against a criminal court judge?

Hello, I was in court today for my friend Melvins trial.. He and six other people are being tried with first degree murder ( please don't judge, this is a really hard time for my family & i ). Anyways, the judge was completely unprofessional, rude, & she kept bringing up the death penalty.. It hasn't even got to the actual like evidence hearings/ trials... My friend melvin is borderline retarded, and he was in psych wards with my sister... My sister dated him for 4 years, & my familys known him for about 8.. He's a nice guy, & theres not really even enough evidence to put him to death.. The judge was being completely innapropriate with the 6 suspects lawyers.. She was acting like they had mentality levels of 3rd graders... I would like to know who I could call & complain to about this? She is extremely biased, and I don't see a fair trial happening.. Can a ball joint be broken during routine maintenance?

Went in for rotation, balance, alignment, & oil change. Pulled car out of parking lot after maintenance & noticed floating sensation, clunking noise, steering column to right at 45 degree angle from normal, yet driving straight (at times). Car veered to right with seeming loss of power intermittently. When I returned to the shop, they put it up & told me (with stunned looks on their faces) that my right lower ball joint (same side it was veering toward) had "fallen out". They showed it to me & sure enough, it was hanging out about 1 1/2 inches, lopsided. I spoke to two of my prior mechanics from another state who said they couldn't think of any way that it could be broken during maintenance, unless someone pulled the thing out & I don't think these guys are good enough actors to pull off the aforementioned expressions. Another local mechanic said it well could have been broken when the car was lifted for the tire rotation, but I think he was trying to disparage the competition?

Could be gas. I get heartburn pretty bad, but unlike most heartburn, mine is cause by gas bubbles pushing acid up the esophagus. I have a hard time burping, so the acid sits there for a moment before going back down and creates a lot of pain. If you chew up fennel seeds it helps. They taste pretty gross on their own, but to get rid of the pain, it is well worth it.

Because of my vry busy schedule i couldn't use the visa until few wks to its expiration, I eventually traveled only to be told at JFK of the cancellation of d Visa few days after it was issued(unknown to me), d homeland security gave me two options to either take a lawyer there and then or go back home to contest it! I choose to go home because I really didn't have n business being in America at d time. I have since married and have two children, we go on vacations periodically and my wife has visited the USA and is visiting again(March). A question for Mandarin and/or Japanese speakers...?

I minored in East Asian Studies with a concentration in Mandarin Chinese language, and decided I wanted to get a Chinese character/Kanji tattoo, so I got a "平" on my left wrist, thinking it meant "peace." The problem is, I did this while still taking Chinese I, and I didn't realize that without a "和" before it or an "安" after it, it wasn't exactly clear that it meant "peace," and had more an air of "flat." What could I do to make the tattoo make more sense? I can't add "和" before it, since it's where my wrist meets my hand, so I figured I could add "安" below it or on my right wrist. I was also thinking about changing it to "氣," the traditional character for qi/ch'i. Would that work/be better, or would it be taken as the literal meaning of "gas?" If you have any other ideas of how I could modify it, please let me know. If at all possible, I'd like the character (or character combination) to make sense in both Mandarin and Japanese. Thanks!

They also have fresh fruit and veg every morning and they also get hay and water so hopefully they have a healthy balanced diet.

Military discharge/depression?

I am currently in South Korea and applied for a curtailment. I seen a counselor and I have been diagnosed with depression, ptsd, and insomnia. I am not on any meds for this as of right now. Landscape fabric? mulch? over already existing plants?

i have large flower beds that i am in the process of planting but i am short on money and it is taking a while and i am finding that i am spending most of my time keeping them weeded but i already have some plants in them such and a section of them is done in lilies and i have a few small bushes i was interested in landscaping fabric and mulch but will my lilies be able to grow through it in the spring? ive used newspaper layers successfully in other parts of my yard under the mulch instead of the fabric but their was nothing planted in those areas yet, would they grow through the newspaper? also the lilies when if ever could i cut back the foliage to those lilies after they have bloomed?

Introducing a rescue Persian to our year old Himi?

Today we rescued a 4 month old male intact Persian. We have a year old female, spayed Himalayan. At first we set the carrier down and let our Himi see the Persian. They didnt have a super bad reaction but it wasnt love at first sight. The persian is know in the guest bedroom, door shut while our Himi still has run of the house. I have the carrier open in the living room. She has been inside it on her own and smelled it. She wont have anything to do with me. She hisses at me and whines anytime I go near her. She paws at me and its making me so sad!!!!! I want to make sure this is a success and Im nervous about introductions. The persian we rescued has his claws while our Himi does not. The Persian seems to have no anxiety about being in a new place. He is eating, drinking and using the litter box. He met our boxer and everything was fine with them. He jumps in my lap when I go into the room and just purrrrs it up. I can brush him and pick him up. He is very loving and friendly. Any tips or suggestions to making this a smooth process? Anything I should know or expect? I just want to have them live in peace and hopefully be friends. We are in an apartment and I fear there isnt enough room for two cats who dont get along. I have a desktop and a laptop. Hey, i recently had knee surgery.. the end of September, and it's had me pretty much immobile for 6 weeks. Which is a long time if you're as into sports as i am! Give her time to get used to the change in her home and environment. Ask your boyfriend to be especially quiet around her for awhile. Even yelling during football games can be upsetting at first. Try having her sit on your lap and have your boyfriend sit next to you. Have him give her some treats. Just take it slowly and yes, leave her crate door open so she can go in there whenever she wants. That is her den. She needs to have her own space where she feels safe. She will get more at ease in time.

Our second son is 3 1/2 months old. We had to start him on cereal in the bottle at 4 weeks because the formula alone went "straight through." He watches his older brother eat, and he's starting to show some interest in "real" food. We've mixed his formula THICK with cereal and, while he seems satisfied, he still wants a bite of whatever we have (he has no teeth, but I don't think he knows this might be a problem). We've given him small tastes of food here and there, but if he sees any of us eat something he drools and kneads his tongue like he wants a bite. Is it too soon to start him on some mild purees as long as his formula is still the bulk of his diet? Our oldest had no interest in "real" food until he was much older- I don't think he wasn't even trying cereal until 4 1/2 to 5 months, so this is new to us. How soon is too soon?

After one play I hobble to the sideline. It's my ACL its been completely torn apart. I lose my senior season(were also highly favored to win state). 2008 saturn outlook leaking?

I have a 2008 Saturn Outlook WITHOUT a sun roof. About a week ago i noticed the floor was a little wet, not paying much attention becasue it has been raining in Ca for a while, so i carried on with Christmas shopping etc... If you feel you might harm the baby, or become really angry, its best to make sure he is fed, dry and otherwise okay and lay him in the crib for a few minutes until you calm down. Is there anyone who can come help you? If anyone has offered now is the time to take them up on it!! Have them come watch the baby for an hour so you can get in a nap. The first few weeks are the hardest, but it does get better. You also have to remember its a big change for him too, he just spent 9 months being held by you 24/7 and now he's in this big scary world and needs a lot of reurance.

When I was younger I used to be this little sweet caring girl who would never hurt anyone's feelings or physically hurt anyone. I was so happy, sweet, caring but then my world all came crashing down. I had to move to London, to UK a country I didn't even know what the language was. But I came here and enrolled in secondary school ( I am now in grade 9 going to grade 10) and I found out what bullying was. I was bullied for two years, I had to drag myself to school, every night dreading waking up in the morning. But I learned to not care, stand up for yourself and be confident and that raised my self esteem. But it also killed the person I was before, now I don't think about anybody else's feelings just my one's. I take education seriously and I get good grades plus I'm a honor student. But now I seem to be a *****. Two years ago I met this guy, he is a pacifist (that is somebody who doesn't believe in violence of any kind), but he started playfully teasing me but at that time I took it as bullying so I did what I usually do with bullies and became a ***** to him, but he kept on coming back to me no matter how much I might have hurt him or whatever I said or did to him ( I called him a lot of names, threatened to kill him the day I met him, hit him a couple of times and basically being a ***** to him trying to make a shield by hurting him so he wouldn't be able to get to me if he ever hurt me, but he never did.) he kept coming back, he would be calm and I would be angry he would speak in a normal tone I would shout and scream I would walk away he would chase after me. And we kept doing this for two years till one day he stopped talking to me, he would often look at me but he wouldn't dare to say a word to me or come over. And this hurt me, and I realized that my aggressive behavior pushed him away, and that hurt me, I don't know why but it did, I realized I wanted him to be there but now he wouldn't be, that he was the only one who was truly there all the way I got bullied the one who never said a mean thing to me the one who never hurt me before and that's when I realized I loved him. So we never spoke again for 6 months till one day I started a conversation, we kept talking since then and got him a make up present for Christmas and he got me one back. Since then we talked more and more but I started being a ***** again. And I hurt him again unconsciously but I did, somebody complimented him and he smiled but then I disagreed with the compliment and made it sound like an offence coming from me and then he stopped smiling, his eyes were sad and then he simply said I agree with you. He agreed with my offence. Then I tried to say sorry but he said he won't forgive. However the next day he waited for me and pretended nothing happened.I feel like I lost his trust now because I also found out from his friend that he lied to me (I tried to confront him about it but he quickly and easily changed the subject) which hurt me very much. I love him but I feel like I lost a part of him and I feel like I'm going to loose the rest if I don't change. Please what do I do? How do I stop being a *****?!

I need medical advice please?

I had a daughter 9 weeks ago. While I was pregnant I suffered from sciatic nerve problems. Now I'm still having problems but the pain is not the same as with the sciatic nerve. The pain doesn’t come from the back and shoot down the leg, it seems to start from either the hip or the groin area. I sometimes have a hard time walking, my older kids tell me I'm still waddling. I can't always bear weight on the leg, and it goes from one leg to the next. Sometimes it feels like I can't lift my leg, like something is stopping it from lifting at the hip, to the point where I shuffle my foot on the floor to get around. I've also experienced short term memory problems, which I had ociated with the pregnancy but are still there. I've also been having problems with my eyes, going blurry, they hurt and I've noticed that sometimes it feels like one is going one way and the other, the other way. Can you advise me please? If your PSA begins increasing you need to have a biopsy performed.. even if the PSA is 2.00-3.00 Like I stated the key to early detection is the increase... no matter how low the psa is.. Also If you ever need to be treated I believe Proton Radiation is the very best treatment.. it has little to no side effects.. (it is not like conventional radiation) and it has about a 90% cure rate.. I was not sick one single day during or after my treatments.. It was like I wasnt sick and was on a nice vacation... How's my story idea so far?

This is a VERY rough outline of my story, which is a one hundred page outline at the moment, but will eventually turn into an eight book fantasy saga about a boy named Ryan Sheppard who lived in Seattle, and (when was ten) watched his parents get killed, although he has no recollection of the incident. Got married 25 years ago, had to change the name as well as surname after marriage. My friend had this problem. She went to a doctor and he made her do "weights" with her tongue. WHat she did was attach some marble like tings on a string and then hold it in between her teeth. Then she had to lift the string up all the way into her mouth trying to use her tongue. Does this make sense? She also put some ruber bands (the braces type) in her mouth and was told to talk with them. It made her pay more attention to how she was forming words so she wouldn't swallow the rubber bands

We like the Garden Grill at EPCOT, The Crystal Palace at MK, Liberty Tree Tavern at MK, the restaurant at the Polynesian Resort that does the O'Hana lunch / dinner, Hollywood & Vine at MGM, the restaurant at the Coronado Springs resort has wonderful food, etc. We're going to BOMA at AK lodge for the first time in October, and LeCellier Restaurant at EPCOT for the first time too. We've heard very good things about both, so we're excited to try them out!

New ways to eat tomatoes?

Well at least new to me. Preferably raw. I have about 15 different varieties of tomatoes planted, mostly heirlooms, and expect them to start coming in big time in the next month or so. I love fresh, ripe tomatoes (that's why I grow them) and won't even touch those "joke tomatoes" they sell in the stores. Mostly I slice the big ones and make tomato sandwiches. The smaller ones go in salads. Sometimes I cook up pasta and simply put sliced tomatoes, oil spices and grated cheese on it. But, alas, this ripe tomato time of the year is relatively short and the rest of the year is more or less a tomato famine. Ergo, I'm looking for as many ways to enjoy these fruits as possible while I have them. As I said, raw is better. Obviously there are a lot of recipes on the various culinary web sites but what I'm looking for are the "down homey," unique recipes that people have come up with on their own.

You have some great ideas. Don't use those big boring words though. Constellations are good. Do you have sky charts to give them to take home? Tell them about stuff they can find in the sky on their own that nite. Is Jupiter still visible? They probably know about rotation, revolution & gravity. And that the earth is very much smaller than the sun. Didn't you learn that stuff in 2-3 grade? I did. Talk about NASA and space exploration, include past, present and the future. Also, the chance that there is life out there somewhere. How far are these other solar systems and how long would it take to travel there. Comets, asteroids etc. are also interesting. Do you have pictures? Pictures that can be diplayed on a screen, on an overhead projector or through a computer display. My astronomy teacher in highschool was an astronomer. He had a small observatory set up in his backyard and used his own photos in cl. Ask them what they want to know.

So I'm a junior in highschool and there's this guy who is driving me crazy. We always look at eachother. I vote Venice. Have been there three times and it is gorgeous. Definitely more romantic than Rome. Florence and Tuscany are also good choices, but for the wow factor I think Venice with it's amazing cs and gorgeous st mark's is the best option. A good bit of skepticism is healthy in life, but especially healthy when it comes to politics and politicians. As much as we'd all like to believe General Petraeus, it's hard to believe that given this administrations history of cronyism and back-slapping "heckuva job, Brown-ies" that Petraeus isn't simply walking lock step with the Bush Administration on this. There's a LOT of money to be made by prolonging this war and it's sad to say, but I think that's one of the major factors contributing to it's continuation. Any thoughts?

Have you concidered putting in Psionic Sliver for damage? If you have out the Sliver Legion the it would not be so bad. You could add Synchronous Sliver for vigilance and attack for damage and then use the ability of the Psionic Sliver and deal 2 damage more each. Don't even need to add blue mana just use Gemhide Sliver for the blue. Hope this helps.

My Ipod Nano doesnt sync anymore.?

My Ipod Nano doesnt sync anymore? I formatted my ipod not via the iTunes but via the My Computer and G drive like a USB pathway. After doing doing that, all was left of my ipod was language. I downloaded updater on iTunes and somehow the other features came back. But when I tried syncing it with iTunes, the songs wouldnt show when I play my ipod. At first try I restored my Ipod to original factory settings and uninstalling iTunes but then nothing still happened. What should I do????

Drill hole flush to the floor?

We are having a flooding problem. I want to drill a small hole where the step riser meets the floor. It needs to be flush with the floor to let water out so it can be diverted to a drain. The step and floor are concrete. I cannot find any tool that will drill flush so the water can get out. The hardware stores don't have anything that will do this. Any ideas what I can do? I think there is an aquifer under the step that eventually fills up in heavy rain. It is a very old house and it seems that new building around it has diverted the water runoff during heaviy rain. It has turned into a nightmare everytime there is a storm.

Cancel tmobile contract?

Ook out a tmobile 18 month contract 10 days ago. The phone is faulty! Went back to the shop, they said they would not give me a new phone because it's been over 7 days, but they would send it off for 2 weeks to be repaired (I've only had this �500 phone for afew days and they want to send it off for 2 weeks!!!) I said this was not acceptable! Rang tmobile customer service when I got home, the person I spoke to said he would send a replacement out the next day between 8am-6pm. Took the day off work, at half 6 I rang customer service who told me the person I spoke to should never have said I could have a new one, because I bought it in store I only had 7 days for it to break to get a new one! That a manager would ring me back and that the only thing I could do was have it sent off for 2 weeks for repair (seriously!!!! On a bran new phone???) I'm not happy at all! When I asked about canceling the contract (after just 9 days) and offering to pay for the full first month, I was told I'd have to pay the full 18 month contract!!!! Surely there must be a way around this! I've had the phone less than a fortnight!!!! Can I angel and give them the phone back without having to pay the full contract???? What will they do if I just cancel the direct debit and give them the phone back??????? Any help or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks
