Can you get dreads locks with 2 strings.?

Each plat of my hair is braided a little bit then twisted through the rest. It was twisted with beezwax and gel. my hair is shoulder length. Its been up for about 3 weeks and they feel like they trying to lock up. I aint no pro, so id dont know. but if you know what i need to do, help me out
